The Platinum Experience is tailormade to offer the most enjoyable experience for all bird of prey lovers and beginners alike, featuring our widest variety of raptors and exclusively giving you the chance to fly one of our stunning Eagles.
Your experience will begin with flying one of our gentle owls, who are sure to impress with their graceful, silent glide to your gloved hand. We have a large selection of beautiful owls to fly, and each one has its own flight style and unique personality, from the tiny and mischievous Little Owl to the huge, powerful Turkmanian Eagle Owl.
We will then introduce you to one of our handsome Buzzards, birds that are ideally built to soar on thermals and the wind. These strong birds excel in turning the weather conditions to their advantage to land with skill and precision on your glove.
Changing the pace, we will go on a walk around the lovely grounds of Dalhousie Castle Hotel with one of our Harris' Hawks. As well as being a skilled, agile flier, the Harris' Hawk is also extremely intelligent and in the wild is the only bird of prey that will hunt in a pack. These "wolves of the sky" love to dart and weave swiftly through the trees, before swooping down to you when called.
Finally, you will have the opportunity to fly one of our regal Eagles. Both "Karim" our Steppe Eagle and "Ziggy" the Tawny Eagle are impressive birds and are larger than any of our other residents at the mews. Flying the eagle is a truly different encounter, with a bird that lands far more powerfully than any other.
The Platinum Experience is specially designed to be available to everyone, from those who have never held a bird of prey
before to anyone who has enjoyed other activities with these intriguing animals. However, due to the strength and size
of our Eagles, we must limit this activity to adults only.
